Oxygen‐Induced Phase Separation in Sputtered Cu–Sn–I–O Thin Films

چکیده

Amorphous Cu–Sn–I is a promising p-type transparent semiconductor. Therefore, herein, composition and structure of sputtered thin films with varying thickness Sn content are investigated by different electron microscopy techniques, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, absorption spectroscopy at the Cu, Sn, I K-edge. After exposure to air, found contain significant amounts oxygen, leading complete phase separation resulting Cu–Sn–I–O films. Spatially-resolved compositional analysis high-resolution transmission reveal that one consists crystalline γ-CuI while other composed amorphous Cu–Sn–O, most likely mixture SnO2 Cu2O/CuO. confirms local structural environment atoms similar in CuI, respectively. In contrast, near edge extended fine Cu K-edge both demonstrate not only bonded but also O atoms. The incorporation oxygen into thus completely alters material therefore clearly needs be inhibited.

Phase stability of AlYB(14) sputtered thin films.

AlYB(14) (Imma) thin films were synthesized by magnetron sputtering. On the basis of x-ray diffraction, no phases other than crystalline AlYB(14) could be identified. According to electron probe microanalysis, energy dispersive x-ray analysis and elastic recoil detection analysis, the Al and Y occupancies vary in the range of 0.73-1.0 and 0.29-0.45, respectively. Density functional theory based...

Modeling of metastable phase formation diagrams for sputtered thin films

A method to model the metastable phase formation in the Cu-W system based on the critical surface diffusion distance has been developed. The driver for the formation of a second phase is the critical diffusion distance which is dependent on the solubility of W in Cu and on the solubility of Cu in W. Based on comparative theoretical and experimental data, we can describe the relationship between...

Ultraviolet detectors in thin sputtered ZnO films.

Sputtering of ZnO is a well-known technique.'9 The application of sputtered thin films of ZnO has mainly been as surface acoustic wave transducers. To our knowledge nobody has yet used these films as detectors for UV radiation. Measurements of the intensity of UV radiation, for example in medical applications in connection with UV irradiation of the skin, are very inaccurate due to the lack of ...

Kinetics of spinodal phase separation in unstable thin liquid films.

We study universality in the kinetics of spinodal phase separation in unstable thin liquid films, via simulations of the thin film equation. It is shown that, in addition to morphology and free energy, the number density of local maxima in the film profile can also be used to identify the early, late, and intermediate stages of spinodal phase separation. A universal curve between the number den...

Ultrafast photoinduced phase separation dynamics in Pr0.6Ca0.4MnO3 thin films

The time resolved Magnetooptical Kerr effect in the substrate-strain-induced insulating ferromagnetic phase in (Pr0.6Ca0.4)MnO3 thin films on two different substrates was measured in a magnetic field up to 1.1T. The photoinduced Kerr rotation and ellipticity show remarkably different magnetic-field dependence. From the comparison of the magnetic field dependencies of the photoinduced and static...
